MyETL Portal Goes Online (06/03/2007) News Release Release Date: 6th March 2007 http://www.myetl.org.uk Two Dundee Companies, Bannerman Technology and The McIntosh Partnership today oversee the relaunch of the ?My Entitlement to Learning?, or MyETL, learning portal, one of the biggest developments of its kind. MyETL is an innovative educational portal serving the learning needs of the Lanarkshire population. The third generation of the web portal, www.myetl.org.uk, has been created by Bannerman Technology in conjunction with The McIntosh Partnership and the members of the ETL partnership. This latest version of the portal was switched live by Brian Lister, Principal of Cumbernauld College, on Tuesday March 6th 2007. The project began in 2004 when the North Lanarkshire Community Planning and Development Group detailed an aspiration to develop the first all-encompassing educational portal of its type in Europe. Two previous versions have been established as proof of concept but this latest model represents the final realisation of the dream. The ETL partnership consists of five colleges (Cumbernauld, Motherwell, John Wheatley, Coatbridge and South Lanarkshire), two local authorities (North and South Lanarkshire) and a range of community groups as well as Careers Scotland, Learndirect Scotland, Scottish Enterprise and the STUC. Brian Lister said ?In My ETL we have developed a web portal capable of delivering an array of focused information and learning materials to our stakeholders and customers and have created a learning environment with the capacity to provide detailed information on uptake. This allows a more structured approach to investment in our desire to create an effective learning experience for businesses and communities, not only in Lanarkshire but across Scotland as a whole.? The McIntosh Partnership, a Dundee based educational consultancy, has been involved in the project from the outset. Director Gordon Craigie said ?It has been a privilege to play a part in such an exciting project. Our role has been to develop the vision and to manage the various strands of the project to translate the ETL partnership?s ambitions into reality. This latter phase, working with another Dundee company, has proved particularly rewarding with our complementary skill-sets producing a fantastic outcome for MyETL. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and to further developing the portal in the months ahead.? Bannerman Technology, a Dundee based software and internet development company, created the portal. The development has been a significant undertaking and even though it is one of the largest developments of its type ever created, it has gone very smoothly thanks to the guidance of The McIntosh Partnership and the members of the Entitlement to Learning partnership. The ETL partnership has proved to be very forward thinking in the use of new technology to benefit people looking for learning opportunities, and we have created a portal that will stay with users throughout their learning lifetime. Providing a free communication and discussion forum for people involved within or resposible for I.T matters. The forum is designed to encourage people to help each other out, share information and services and to promote the Tayside I.T industry. The forum itself has been devloped in-house at Bannerman Technology as a completely bespoke application allowing us to create a simple to use and great looking product. Bannerman Technology Appointed to Build MYETL Refferal System (07/08/2006) The Entitlement to Learning Partnership is an initiative to provide a cental point for learning opportunities in the Lanarkshire area. Careers Scotland, Scottish Enterprise Lanarkshire, North Lanarkshire Council, South Lanarkshire Council, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, John Wheatley, Motherwell and South Lanarkshire Colleges and Learndirect Scotland are some of the partners currently contributing to this initiative. Bannerman Technology are creating a refferal tracking system to administrate the opportunities taken up by students as they move between organisations.
